KHARAR, July 13: Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) MP from Ropar (Reserve) Parliamentary constituency, Satwinder Kaur Dhaliwal, has said that she would demand in Parliament a CBI probe into the alleged grabbing of municipal land worth crores of rupees by relatives of a former VVIP of Punjab, in Khanpur village, under the Kharar municipal limits.

While addressing a public rally at Khanpur village last evening, she praised the villagers for keeping up their struggle against the Khanpur land scandal.

Om Prakash Aggarwal, a senior BJP leader and a Municipal Councillor, said that municipal land worth Rs 4 crore had been allegedly encroached upon by some influential persons in the township but the MC authorities had not taken any action in this regard so far. He demanded that the Punjab government conduct a high-level probe into the land-grabbing cases in Kharar area.

Others who addressed the gathering included local unit chief of SAD (Badal), Master Prem Singh, local councillor Baljinder Kaur, and district chief of SAD(B) Pritam Singh Sallomajra.
