The Indian Medical Association IMA, while expressing concern at the high number of reported cases of dengue in the city, has demanded a coordinated approach between the health providers and civic authorities to sort out the yearly menace of dengue and gastroenteritis.

8220;Whereas the health providers can spread awareness about prevention and management of the disease, the civic authorities have to provide basic infrastructure facilities like housing, drinking water and sewage facilities and preventive measures like fogging of mosquitocidal agents. We have to adopt a holistic approach towards health care which is possible only through a coordinated approach,8221; an IMA statement said, adding that it has already written a letter to the commissioner of the Municipal Corporation for fogging on war-footing.
