MUMBAI, April 25: Prashant Sawant8217;s all-round performance enabled Dena Bank to beat Union Bank by 69 runs in the quarter-finals of the Western Region Inter-Bank cricket tournament 45 overs at the Cross Maidan, today.
Sawant, after contributing 25 in his side8217;s total of 230 for eight in 45 overs, went on to take three wickets for 43 to restrict Bank Shield winners Union Bank to 161 in 35 overs. Goa Ranji player Arun Shetty was the top scorer with 27.
Last year8217;s runners-up Bank of India beat Reserve Bank of India by four wickets. An unbeaten 48 by Inayat Pathan and fine leg-spin bowling by Dharmendra Chudasama 4 for 10 enabled State Bank of Saurashtra to beat Bombay Mercantile by 95 runs to enter the semi-finals.
