NEW DELHI, December 2: State Bank of India (Delhi Circle) emerged champions after a gap of 20 years when they defeated SBI (Chennai) by 17 runs in a thrilling final at University grounds here today.

Powered by a lusty 63 (6×4, 77b) by opener Sanjeev Chopra and his 116-run stand for the second wicket with Pankaj Kaushik (83: 102b), Delhi made 239 for eight.

Chennai were in a winning position at one stage with the score 186 for five. But Ravinder Bhandari, Hitesh Sharma, Vijay Bahadur and Rajesh Joshi put a brake to their aspirations and restricted them to 222.

Shanta Raju (Gen Secy), M Balakrishnan (Gen Secy, All India SBI Officers Federation), K K bandlish (president, SBI Staff Federation) and Madhukar (chief general manager, Delhi Circle) gave away prizes to the participants.

Brief Scores: Delhi: 239 for 8 in 40 overs (Sanjeev Chopra 63, Pankaj Kaushik 83, Ravinder Bhandari 45, K Kubendran 2 for 41). Chennai: 222 all out in 39.4 overs (C K Venkatraman 63, S Ganesh 50, K Shivkumar 33, Ravinder Bhandari 3 for 46, Vijay Bahadur 3 for 40, Hitesh Sharma 3 for 53, R Joshi 2 for 34).
