Sarandeep Singh spun a web around Himachal Pradesh batsmen as Delhi registered a comprehensive six-wicket win in their North Zone Ranji one-day league match which was played afresh following complaints over the quality of the pitch at the Maharaja Aggarsain Stadium here today.

In the 28-over a side replayed match, Himachal Pradesh were dismissed for a paltry 105. Delhi batsmen took 21.4 overs to reach the target after losing four wickets.

The match started on schedule but with Delhi’s score at 68-3 after 21 overs skipper Vijay Dahiya lodged a complaint regarding the behaviour of the pitch. Later on it was decided to start the game afresh at 12.45 pm on an alternative pitch and earlier proceedings of the match were made null and void.

The toss was again held with the same 11 players. This time it went in favour of Delhi, who put the opponents to bat first.

Mongia shines against J&K

Gurgaon: Captain Dinesh Mongia made mockery of a weak opposition attack cracking a fine unbeaten century as Punjab thrashed Jammu and Kashmir by nine wickets here.

Mongia, who hit 117 not out off just 112 balls, was involved an 138-run partnership for the first wicket with Munish Sharma (54) as Punjab overtook the Jammu and Kashmir’s total of 186-8 with ease with 17.5 overs to spare.
