As a part of its series dedicated to help the needy and disabled, Essex Farms, in association with the Cancer Aid Association, will be organising an Anup Jalota Nite on January 11 at the complex in Hauz Khas. Essex had earlier hosted cultural programmes in association with the Spastic Society and an NGO, Jan Madhyam. The proceeds from the nite will be donated to the cancer patients.

Sri Parasara Award

Scholar and musicologist Dr N.P. Seshadri has been nominated for the Sri Parasara Award for this year. The award has been instituted by the National Institute of Astrological Sciences for contribution to the cause of astrological science. Dr Seshadri has made national and international predictions, using his knowledge of the traditional scriptures.

Money sanctioned for needy patients

A sum of Rs 13.82 lakh has been sanctioned by the Delhi Arogya Nidhi for the treatment of 24 poor and needy patients admitted in various hospitals in the city. The money was sanctioned at a meeting chaired by education minister Dr Harsh Vardhan on Wednesday.

Hindi translation of Dante

Italian Prime Minister Romano Prodi was presented with the newly published Hindi translation of Italian poet Dante’s Divine Comedy on Tuesday. Dr Madan Lal, professor of Italian at the Jawaharlal Nehru University has done the translation work.

Trade fair extended n THE 3rd Delhi Trade Fair has been extended till January 9, following a written request by the participants for the same. The fair will remain open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. during the extended period.
