Boy commits suicide after failing class X exams
The body of a 16-year-old boy was found by the Narela police around 4.30 p.m yesterday. The boy, Ravinder Kumar, a student of a government school, had reportedly committed suicide by jumping into the Haiderpur drain after discovering on June 15 that he had failed his class X examinations. Though there were several people present at the site, Kumar, a resident of Poot Khurd, jumped down before anyone could stop him.

Murder accused arrested
The anti-burglary section of the Crime Branch arrested an alleged notorious criminal, Mukesh, in Rohini on Wednesday. According to the police, Mukesh confessed to his involvement in the murder of a youth who had teased his girlfriend in 1992. Subsequently, he was involved in several cases of robbery, looting and stabbing in a Lajpat Nagar and Trilokpuri. He was also involved in many cases of auto-lifting in north-west Delhi. The police have recovered three stolen two-wheelers so far. Efforts are on to nab Mukesh8217;s associates.

Two held for dowry death
The Sadar Bazar police have arrested the husband and mother-in-law of 21-year-old Nasra who was allegedly posioned to death. Nasra had been admitted to the St Stephen8217;s Hospital on June 7. She died on June 10. According to the police, she was being tortured for bringing insufficient dowry. Her parents had complained that they suspected that she had been killed because of this. The police registered a case of dowry-related death after the area SDM submitted a report.

Man stabbed to death
A 45-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death near Delite cinema by some unidentified persons in Daryaganj on Wednesady night. The victim, identified as Nasimuddin, was was a resident of the Ganj Meer area of the walled city. Some passersby saw him lying unconscious near the cinema hall. He was taken to LNJP hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Further investigations are on.

One killed, two hurt in bus accident
One person died and two were injured when they were hit by a private bus near Shahdara on Wednesday night. While Banwari Lal, 48, died on the spot, his nephews 8212; Rajesh, 18, and Raju, 20 8212; were taken to GTB hospital where they are recuperating. The police said that the victims were coming from Loni when the bus hit Banwari Lal8217;s scooter. As he fell from the scooter, he was run over by the the speeding bus. Rajesh and Raju who were on a separate scooter were also hit by the same bus. The bus driver fled the spot after the incident.

Man shot at in N-E Delhi
A 40-year-old businessman was shot at on Friday afternoon by unidentified robbers in north-east Delhi. Ramesh Chandar was opening his shop in Chandu Nagar area of Gokulpuri around 4.30 p.m. when three youths entered the grocery outlet. At gun-point they demanded him to hand over the available cash to them. When he resisted, they shot at him and did away with Rs 5,000. Ramesh was admitted to the GTB Hospital where his situation was said to be stable. He was hurt in his left cheek. Gokulpuri police have registered a case of robbery and assault, but no arrests have been made.

Three Tihar inmates hurt
Three Tihar under-trials were injured in a group clash on Wednesday night. One of the groups including Madan, Anil, Hira Lal and Dharam Vir reportedly clashed with another group including Rafiq, Raj Kumar and Sunder. Around 11.30 p.m, the former group allegedly bashed up Raj Kumar and Sunder in an argument over the use of the lavatory. Dharam Vir lodged a cross complaint against Rafiq, Sunder, Raj Kumar of allegedly beating him up over sleeping at a particular place.
