Former Orissa Health Minister Bijayashree Routray has issued a legal notice of defamation and damage of Rs 1 crore to the state Chief Secretary for mentioning his name in the World Bank-funded health project scandal.

Routray told reporters here on Sunday that a legal notice had been sent through his lawyer to Chief Secretary A K

Tripathy for defamation and damages for naming him on January 24, 2008 as recipient of money from a firm in World Bank-aided Orissa Health System Development Project (OHSDP).

The Chief Secretary was not available for comment.

“A defamation case will be filed after 60 days notice period,” he said adding that mention of his name before the media had tarnished his image.
