International band ‘Scorpion’ will rock Shillong on December 12 as it will kick off its world tour from here. The show is called ‘Monster Rock Concert’. The band will then leave for Bangalore and Mumbai. The band has Klaus Meine on the vocal, Rudolf Schenker on rhythm guitar, Matthias Jabs on lead, Pawel Maciwoda on bass and James Kottak on drums. The band cut their first album Lonesome Crow in 1972.
Event organiser E-18’s CEO Farhad K Wadia said the technical requirement for the show was a “nightmare” but E-18 would take up the challenge and make the “biggest rock concert” in the region happen. He said the band insisted on playing its own “backline music equipment”. Wadia said the biggest challenge would be to ferry 20 tonnes of instruments by road. The concert will take place at the Jawaharlal Nehru Sports Complex.
