SRINAGAR, DEC 8: Though there has been no attack on security forces over the past two days in the Valley, unidentified militants have resorted to grenade attacks on public places since Thursday, killing three persons and injuring 80 others. The indiscriminate grenade attacks at public places have created a fear psychosis in the Valley.
Sources said at least 45 persons were injured, seven of them seriously, whenunidentified militants hurled a grenade in Shopian town this afternoon.
The grenade was hurled after the Friday prayers when people were leaving mosques and streets were full. The injured were rushed to Srinagar hospital.
Yesterday, unidentified militants had hurled a grenade at the Kupwara bus stand, injuring 37 persons, out of which three, including a special police officer, succumbed to their injuries.
Sources said these attacks were probably being carried out with some gameplan in mind, because civilians were targetted in both the incidents. They said police have yet to ascertain the identity of the attackers.
