CHANDIGARH, Nov 17: The Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 35 lads did the impossible, upsetting DAV Senior Secondary School, Sector 8 by 13 runs to win the UT Inter-School cricket (under-19) tournament here today.
All-rounders Rajat Bhandari and Vikramjit Sodhi were the star performers for the winners. In fact the two were carrying excellent individual performances in the final and were the ones around whom the side’s fortunes were built.
Rajat Bhandari made 26 runs and then captured two wickets while Vikramjit scored 22 and then came up with a match-winning haul of five for 22.
Chasing GMSSS-35 total of 141 for 8 in 25 overs, the DAV lads were able to muster only 128 for 9 in the allotted overs. Rajat captured 11 wickets in the tournament besides scoring 88 runs for his team while Vikramjit took nine wickets and contributed 119 runs to the team’s tally.

Dev Samaj Senior Secondary School, Sector 21 entered the final of the UT Inter-School (girls) cricket tournament after getting past Government Senior Secondary School, Sector 28 by eight runs in the semifinal today.
Scores: Dev Samaj: 114 for 9 (Natasha 27, Kususm 15; Mamta 2-28, Shweta 2-33) beat GMSSS-28: 106 (Puneet 16 n.o.; Natasha 2-10, Shelja 2-19, Durga 2-19, Kususm 2-21).
Joshi’s ton Munish Joshi’s century (100) helped Punjab State Electricity Board, Patiala to beat ICC XI by seven wickets in the Gursagar Cup cricket tournament here today.
