With no challenger in sight, Jagmohan Dalmiya is all set to go for his third and last presidential term amidst indications of minor reshuffle among other office bearers as the cricket board goes for its two-day Annual General Meeting from tomorrow.
Like the president, the secretary SK Nair is also likely to remain undisturbed but there would be changes in the post of joint secretary and treasurer as both the incumbents, Jyoti Bajpai and Kishore Rungta respectively, have already completed their terms.
Indications are that Bajpai would move to the treasurer8217;s post that leaves only joint secretary8217;s post open for grab for which a number of names, both from Dalmiya8217;s camp as well as opposition camp, are floating around.
Initially, selection committee chairman Brijesh Patel was a likely candidate for joint secretary8217;s post but he is currently hospitalised with heart problem and was unlikely to attend tomorrow8217;s meeting.
That leaves Mumbai8217;s Prof Ratnakar Shetty as one of the strong contenders for the post as Board sources here said that the Dalmiya camp is likely to support his candidature despite the fact that he belongs to the Opposition camp.
In this scenario, Bengal8217;s Gautam Dasgupta, who was also one of the aspirants for the joint secretary8217;s post, may not get the opportunity this time despite being in the ruling camp.
There is also a possiblity of one or two changes among the five vice-presidents 8211; Ranbir Singh Mahendra North, M Ranga Reddy South, Prafulla Kumar Mahanta East, Narhari Amin West and Kamal Morarka Central.
The opening day of the AGM tomorrow would witness selection of the office bearers, the BCCI working committee and the formation of national selection committees, both senior and junior, as well as various tournament committees.
Subsequently the meeting would take up other issues on the agenda which includes the contentious issues of dispute with the International Cricket Council ICC on the players8217; contract.
The meeting would also discuss the much debated graded system of payment to the international stars as well as dispute over affiliations to some units like the Bihar Cricket Association and Jharkhand Cricket Association.
