Dinesh Dalmia was today taken on transit remand to Chennai from Delhi, where he was arrested on February 11. Dalmia, arrested from a house in south Delhi by the Bank Fraud and Securities Cell of the CBI, had been on the run since December 2003.

Link metropolitan magistrate Sanjiv Jain granted CBI permission to transfer Dalmia to Chennai to be produced before Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Egmore at the earliest.

Dalmia had applied for transit bail, which was dismissed by the court citing the gravity of the situation and the magnitude of the crime.
