CHANDIGARH, Dec 6: Daljit Singh (89) fashioned Tari Club’s emphatic six-wicket win over Pace Club in the tenth Champions Trophy cricket tournament here at the PGI ground today.

Daljit hit three sixes and eight fours in his knock as Tari Club successfully chased the target of 187 set by Pace Club. For Pace Club, Jasbinder Singh and Jagjit Saini captured two wickets each.

Brief scores: Pace: 186 (Yadvinder Kumar 60, Amardeep 28, Jagjit Saini 23; Baljit Rana 3-36, Sandeep Saini 3-20, Madan Lal 2-25) lost to Tari: 187 for 4 (Daljit Singh 89, Vikram Sharma 24, Baljit Singh 31 n.o.; Jasbinder Singh 2-34, Jagjit Saini 2-29).

City pugilists excel
Chandigarh pugilists gave a good account of their performance, bagging four medals including a gold in the 31st Junior National boxing championship held at Dimapur (Nagaland) from November 30 to December 4. According to information received here, Shakti Singh got the gold medal in the light heavy category while Aman Awasthi and Kuldeep Singh won the silver medals in the super heavy and heavy weight sections, respectively. Surinder Kumar, bagged the bronze medal in the light weight division.
