Goan accountant sues TN hospital for negligence

PANAJI: A lady chartered accountant in Goa has claimed a compensation of more than half a crore rupees from Chennai-based Apollo Hospital, alleging that poor service in the hospital caused the death of her husband, a reputed Goan advocate. In a complaint filed before the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, she said that her late husband N M N Gaunekar was admitted to the hospital for undergoing treatment for heart ailments.

Drunkard kills patient, injures six

NASHIK: A patient admitted to the Municipal Bytco Hospital here killed another patient and injured six others on Thursday morning. According to police, Karbhai Sekharam Netare, admitted to the hospital on Wednesday night after he fell unconscious due to excessive consumption of alcohol, turned violent at around 3 am. Picking up a bottle stand, he hit another patient Babarao Trimbak Shejwal on his head, killing him on the spot. He also injured two patients and four staff members.

Patil case accused moves court

PUNE: Geetabai Kale, an suspect in the Patil family murder case, on Thursday moved an application before the Additional Sessions Judge A H Lohiya revoking the authority given to any lawyer other than Advocate Vivek Chavan to appear before the court as her defence counsel. The application comes after both Vivek Chavan and Advocate S P Hulyalkar, appeared in the court on several occasions representing Geetabai. Both the lawyers have filed separate applications requesting the court to grant bail for Geetabai as she is pregnant. She has been remanded to magisterial custody, and is at present imprisoned at the Yerawada Central Prison here.
