Jhala is Dhandhuka’s new panchayat chief
Harpalsinh Jhala of the Congress has been declared elected unopposed as the president of Dhandhuka taluka panchayat, a GPCC statement said on Monday. The panchayat has 25 members, of whom 13 belong to the Congress and another five supported Jhala. Party MLA Gunwant Makwana and PCC joint secretary Jayantibhai Parmar remained present as the election observers from the GPCC.
CERS urge on tariff hike
The Consumer Education and Research Society (CERS) has urged the Ahmedabad Electricity Company (AEC) not to implement the tariff hike it announced recently and also refund the money collected in excess of the rate. Opposing the tariff hike, CERS has served a notice on AEC saying that legal proceedings will be initiated against it if it fails to satisfactorily answer the substantive questions raised in the notice and said that it has no right to raise the tariff without considering the representations and objections from the public.
Pay arrears to be disbursed
The State secretary, Federation of National Telecom Organisation, D D Mistry said that the Centre has decided that the second and final installment of arrears of pay and allowance may be disbursed in cash to all Central government employees along with their salaries for the month of May, after deducting the Income Tax due in accordance with the instructions on the subject.
Keshubhai meets people
Chief Minister Keshubhai Patel on Monday listened to the grievances of nearly 500 people. The Chief Minister also received about 104 written complaints. Hospital land for GSRTC
State government has decided to give the 17,041 square meters of the leprosy hospital to the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation. The land was given to the GSRTC for expansion of the central ST bus stop in the city. The land was kept in reserve for the leprosy hospital under the town planning scheme of Kankaria.
GU changes schedule
Gujarat University has announced some changes in the examination schedules of FYBSc.
