NEW DELHI, SEPT 22: Central Vigilance Commissioner (CVC) N Vittal today asked Central Bureau of Investigation to launch “all out war” against corruption as India has been “ranked very high” in corruption by the transparency international report.
Addressing a meeting of joint directors and deputy inspectors general of CBI here at its headquarters, Vittal said “every officer should give a serious thought to this and find reasons and remedial measures.”
The CVC, who has been made responsible for appointment of CBI director according to the recent Ordinance promulgated by the government, assured the agency to solve the problem of shortage of manpower and special courts faced by it.
He said agency officials should adopt a “truly professional” approach in dealing with the cases handed over to them for probe and give their suggestions “freely.”
“Small and effective teams can do big jobs,” he said exhorting the agency officials to expedite investigation with speed and accuracy.
CBI directorTrinath Misra said CVC had been provided with a difficult and responsible charter to deal with the menace of corruption and assured that CBI would make all out efforts to achieve success in combating this social evil.
