Keep it simple this summer, say hair and make-up stylists. If you like it long, wrap it in a knot or tie it with a rubber band, high enough to insulate the neck from the damming heat, suggests make-up artist Jojo. Pep it up with fringes, hanging like tear-drops on the forehead or sweeping coyly near the ear, thus giving you the feminine, classic 60s look, says make-up artist Ambika Pillai.
If you like it short, the inverted bob a la Vicotria Beckham is still in. “Not many commoners have taken to it yet. Now is the best time to try it,” assures Jojo. And if you are not comfy with the high-on-oomph bob, settle for layered, shoulder-length hair with flicks, says hair stylist Jawed Habib. Bipasha has gone for it too after her short-lived Beckham bob.
Stylists have banned colouring this summer. Not even highlights, insists Jojo. But if you still love blondes, settle for the less-visible light brown shade on your black or dark brown crop, says Habib, as the Indian sun would be less harsh on it.
Neatness is the mantra for men too. Except that neat for them is short and sporty. The Indian man would look best with the soft crew cut, says stylist Yatan Ahluwlia, as “our faces aren’t angular and long hair near the ear would make them look rounder,” he says. Round-faced Aamir has gone for the injury-pepped crew cut too.
