CRPF jawan kills 2 colleagues before shooting self

Two CRPF jawans and one company commander were killed in an incident of fratricide near Bhawan at Vaishno Devi shrine in Reasi district of Jammu region on Monday.

A jawan of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), deployed close to Bhawan at Vaishno Devi shrine in Udhampur district of Jammu region, shot at and critically injured his in-charge company commander and another CRPF jawan before committing suicide by shooting himself with service weapon.

However, the two injured were also declared brought dead in Government Medical College Hospital Jammu, where they were immediately flown in a chopper.

The incident happened at around 10 am when a CRPF jawan, identified as Devinder Singh, shot at his in-charge company commander, Inspector Snoop, and another jawan, Parveen Kumar. He was deployed with 140 Bn of the CRPF, located near the Bhawan at Vaishno Devi temple.

Sources said Singh had a verbal duel with Inspector Snoop following which he opened fire at him and the other jawan. CRPF has ordered an inquiry into the incident.
