Tragedy on set: ‘Rash’ actress mows down 6-yr-old in car

The car was reportedly driven in a "rash and negligent" manner causing the mishap: Police

A five-year-old boy was today killed and a girl was injured after a car allegedly driven by a television actress hit them during a Telugu serial shoot at Jyothinagar under Chandanagar police station limits here.

The deceased E Sathvik Reddy,an LKG student and his neighbour Swathika were sitting on steps near a garden when TV actress Aparna allegedly lost control over the vehicle and crashed it into a pavement at 9.30 am before hitting them.

Sathvik died on the spot while the girl escaped with a fracture on her left leg and was shifted to a hospital,police said.

Chandanagar police registered a case under relevant sections of IPC against the actress and the entire shooting team,and have arrested Aparna and team manager Venkateswara Rao,an investigating Officer said.

According to police,the actress did not have a valid driving license besides no permission had been taken for the shooting of the serial in the locality.

“It was a scene from the serial wherein the actress was supposed to drive her vehicle till the pavement and walk into the garden. However,the car was reportedly driven in a “rash and negligent” manner causing the mishap,” the IO said based on preliminary investigation.

The actress said that she tried to control the vehicle but was unable to do so.. “It (accident) happened unexpectedly.”
