Anand Sharma is an experienced political hand and should have been more careful. The Union minister has made the maximum of the ongoing centenary celebrations of the Satyagraha, editing a book on Gandhian philosophy and getting the PM and Sonia Gandhi to attend a high-profile function to release it last week. But in the Congress, too much attention is not a good thing, and Sharma finds himself in the dock for claiming all the credit at the expense of Sonia. The short film at the function underlined Sharma’s efforts to get Gandhi Jayanti declared as the International Non-Violence Day by the UN. Unfortunately for him, he had missed the fact that Sonia had written to the UN Secretary-General with the same request.
