The CPI(M) State Committee has a strategy to tag the Trinamool Congress-BJP alliance as an anti-development political force. This will be the burning issue, for which the CPI(M) will campaign in the next Assembly polls, due to be held in June 2006. The CPI(M) State Committee met today to formulate poll campaign strategy.
The committee decided that the success stories of Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee will be mooted as main issues. A lot of developmental issues, though have been opposed by a section of the partymen, while the party leaders are dealing with diverse developmental issues. The often-opposed issue is that of the State Government’s deal with the Indonesia-based Salem group. Not only did the issue meet with opposition from members within the party but also from the TMC chief Mamata Banerjee. “Our aim during the election campaigns will be to expose the TMC-BJP alliance as they were the one to oppose development in West Bengal,” said Anil Biswas, state secretary of the CPI(M). The Left Front will attack the Congress on foreign policy issues and ones related to economic policies, added Biswas.
