All that the group of ministers GoM, set up by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh himself last month, to oversee the 350th anniversary celebrations of the Taj, has done is divide the six-month calendar of events around six full moons and split the moons between the ministries of Culture, Tourism and the UP government.
After all the grand plans on how to celebrate the event, the schedule has come down to six main events over six full moon nights 8212; UP government gets October and February moon, Culture gets December and January, Tourism gets November and March. Not surprisingly, the events would almost replicate with the usual song and dance fare.
The apex court has imposed its faith on the findings by NEERI, the premier institute in Nagpur which pursues research and development in environmental science and technology. The institute would present an impact study on the crowd movement, wind velocity, dust and density, auto pollution and the like by October 13. The court would then take a decision on giving permission for holding public events at the Taj.
Says an official, 8216;8216;NERRI will make a comprehensive report on the effect of the proposed additional movement of people and traffic in and around the Taj and present it to the GoM. The court will take a decision forthwith.8217;8217;
