Leaving the heat and humidity of Delhi behind, top Indian amateur golfers and enthusiasts will head this weekend for two days of golf at the Royal Springs and Gulmarg courses to participate in the Express Power Golf 2004.

Consisting of two rounds of 18 holes each, Express Power Golf 2004 takes the popular corporate golf concept to another level. The participants will be flown to Srinagar one day prior to the event, and have an option to play a practice round, before teeing it up for the Stableford competition at the par-72, Royal Springs course on Saturday.

The following day is the 18-hole competition at the Gulmarg golf course.

The rewards for each day’s play will be winner and runner-up prizes in three handicap categories. There will also be separate winner and runner up prizes for the ladies, senior golfers and for the best gross score each day. No competition can be complete without the longest drive, which usually has all the participants well equipped with the latest drivers and brand new golf balls.

Another fun contest is the nearest to the pin: everyone plays an approach shot on the chosen hole and at the end of the day, the person who hit his ball closest to the pin walks away with the trophy.

Even though there is nothing like a challenge to get the adrenaline pumping, the idea of playing two golf courses that have a special place in Indian golfing history and have been cut off from the country for so long, will be an achievement in itself.
