The J-K police today released photograph of a top Lashkar militant believed to have masterminded the series of grenade blasts in Srinagar that left nine civilians dead and 38 others injured on Tuesday. A cash award of Rs 5 lakhs has also been announced for providing information about the militant.
Police believe Mudasir, alias Raju, alias Mansoor, a Lashkar-e- Toiba /Al-Mansoorian militant is behind the series of grenade blasts. Though, the police had already identified Mudasir as a mastermind for the grenade attacks in the city, the arrest of militant Mohammad Afzal, soon after he hurled a grenade outside the Tourist Reception Centre, gave police several clues. The police claims to have received several leads from him.
IG Kashmir, S M Sahia said the police has already cracked some members of the Lashkar modules responsible for the grenade attacks . ‘‘We are looking for Mudasir and his close associate from Sopore, who have planned the series of grenade attacks in the city,’’ he said. ‘‘We will be giving cash award and government jobs to any person who comes up with information to catch the militants responsible for the grenade attacks.’’
Mudasir, the police claims, is a top militant and has been operating in the city from past several months. Mudasir has recruited many people especially teenaged boys and pretty criminals. Police appreciated the role played by the local people in nabbing the militant.
