PUNE, Dec 24: Two traffic policemen who demanded a bribe of Rs 50 from a college student were on Wednesday nabbed red-handed by anti-corruption bureau sleuths. Santosh Rajaram Khandwe and Anil Rohidas Rikibe of the Vishrambaug traffic police unit had last week demanded that Durgesh Laldas Pardeshi pay them the amount.

Pardeshi was proceeding towards Tilak Road from Poona Hospital chowk on his two-wheeler. As the signal turned red, Pardeshi stopped on the road and moved back up to the line demarcating the pedestrian crossing.

Khandwe and Rikibe were on duty asked Pardeshi for his driving licence. After inspecting the licence, they kept the licence with them and told Pardeshi to pay Rs 300 as fine for jumping the signal or give them Rs 50 to get back his licence. Pardeshi refused to pay the amount and later during the week persistently asked the constables to return his licence. Pardeshi later contacted the anti-corruption bureau which laid a trap at the Vishrambaug traffic police unit. The constables were caught accepting the bribe.
