CHANDIGARH, Dec 2: A policeman, alleged to be in a drunken state, rammed the Maruti van he was driving into a Fiat car on the road dividing Sectors 36 and 37 late tonight. The incident reportedly led to protests by passers-by, following which a case was registered.
According to sources, a Fiat car bearing Delhi registration number which was heading for the roundabout dividing Sectors 23, 24, 36 and 37, was hit by a Maruti van coming from the opposite direction. The van, sources said, was driven by Sarwan Singh, and two policemen were also in the van. Singh has been arrested and booked, while the two occupants of the car who were injured were taken to General Hospital in Sector 16, a police official stated. He added that Sarwan Singh had been taken for medical examination.
