CHENNAI, MAY 12: The convicted members in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case will file a review petition before the Supreme Court challenging the death sentence confirmed against Nalini, Murugan, Perarivalan and Santhan and the life term to Ravichandran, Robert Pyas and Jayakumar, their counsel said.
Noted criminal advocate N Natarajan, who is making arrangements, is expected to file the review petition before the same bench of the Supreme Court in a couple of days. In all, 26 persons of which 13 were Indians and 13 Sri Lankans were arrested in connection with Rajiv Gandhi’s assassination in 1991. The accused, who were ordered to be released immediately by the Supreme Court, have spent nearly eight years in prison.
