In order to counter the bad press homoeopathy is getting worldwide, Beacon Foundation, an organisation working in the field of Homoeopathy for the past 12 years, has organized a Case Presentation Contest. The contest to be held in Mumbai in the first weekend of December 2005 is open for all the homoeopathic doctors to present an acute case cured by giving medicines based on homoeopathic principles, upon a standard format provided by Beacon Foundation.

The contest aims at bringing homoeopathic practitioners of different types and levels on a unique platform to showcase the success of the mode of treatment. The foundation argues that this branch of medicine is popular not only because patients are aware of it, but also because homoeopathy has proved its merit in the management of different ailments. The contest, according to the foundation, is in reaction to the recent study headed by Dr Mathius Egger of the University of Berne, Switzerland, which concluded that homoeopathic medicines only did the work of placebos.
