LUDHIANA, Sept 1: Police have arrested a Constable, Prem Singh, resident of Shekhupura village P.S.Sadar Phagwara in Kapurthala district for submitting a forged matriculation certificate at the time of recruitment and tampering with date of birth.Varinder Kumar, S.P.HQ who was investigating the case, said that on the basis of complaint lodged by a commandant, 2nd Bn, India Reserve Batallion, Ladda Kothi, Sangrur, a case was registered against the accused under section 467/468/471/120-B IPC was registered against the accused in P.S.Div. No 6 here.

When attempts were made to get the matriculation certificate of the accused verified from Punjab School Education Board, it was learnt that the certificate was a forged and fabricated document. While the constable was earlier dismissed from service, police were investigating the matter further, the SP added.
