CHANDIGARH, July 12: Degradation of feminine dignity 8211; that8217;s what Kameshwari8217; staged at Tagore Theatre depicted. A vulgar presentation of otherwise delicate topic, the poetic play failed miserably in doing any justice to the epic of kama8217;.

Based on a long poem written by Swarn Jit Savi, the poetic play came as a disappointment to a handful of people who constituted the audience. While an army of artistes8217; invaded the stage to assist the God of Love and his beloved Kameshwari8217;, to depict the never satisfied8217; love of a man for a woman, the main artistes8217; failed to portray true love for each other. The end product was a never ending8217; and vulgar lust of a man excited by female body.

Equally bad was the background music . While the play started good half an hour behind schedule, the depiction of man8217;s love8217; for a woman lost its meaning in the vulgar presentation, making many people from the audience leave the play mid-way.

The play was directed by Narinder Sanghi who was assisted by Hardip Gill, also in the lead role. Anita Devgan8217;s wrote the script, while Kabal, Tejinder and Saleem provided the music. Pinkish, dressed up in a skimpy costume played the role of Kameshwari8217;.
