The Congress today said that it will seek a CBI investigation into the Godhra killings if it comes to power in Gujarat after the Assembly election in December.
Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee chief Shankersinh Vaghela said: ‘‘There are still many unanswered questions about the Godhra tragedy. These can be unravelled only after a CBI inquiry, which we will ask for if we come to power in Gujarat.’’
The party announced its election campaign from November 11 at Karamsad near Anand, the ancestral home of Sardar Patel.
Kamal Nath, AICC general secretary in charge of Gujarat, said that it would set up special courts to probe the various scams in the state, particularly the cooperative scam.
