NEW DELHI, NOV 29: The Congress today demanded that the Government should review its decision of cancelling the forthcoming cricket series between India and Pakistan in the wake of the ongoing peace initiative by the Government.

Party spokesperson Anand Sharma told reporters today that the need for maintaining “people to people” contact and visits of cultural delegations between the two countries should not suffer and that his party was of the view that the Government should review the decision on cancelling the Indian cricket team’s tour to Pakistan.

Saying the Government should be more cautious while implementing the unilateral ceasefire in Jammu and Kashmir, Sharma here said what had happened in the Valley yesterday involving the security personnel and a group of militants was a matter of concern.

Sharma said that his party was of the view that the Kashmir issue could not be solved without involving Pakistan since it was that country which was sponsoring and abetting the militants. “It is necessary for India to initiate a dialogue with Pakistan,” he added.
