After days of stalemate, the Congress on Wednesday said it was confident of winning the trust vote on February 28.
Sources said the party had worked it out with two BJP MLAs to abstain during the vote, ensuring the smooth sailing of the Pratapsingh Rane government.
The claim came on the day former CM Manohar Parrikar alleged there was threat to the lives of his MLAs. Parrikar told reporters here that the BJP MLAs were shifted to Jaipur for their safety. “Goa’s history is worse than Bihar and there is a threat to MLAs’ lives,” Parrikar said. He alleged several people who made an attempt on the life of an MLA some years ago were now part of the Congress-led government. Parrikar, however, did not divulge any details.
The Congress denounced Parrikar’s statements. “Parrikar has now become a schizophrenic and sees threats everywhere after losing power,” spokesperson Jitendra Deshprabhu said.
