CHANDIGARH, Feb 26: College and university teachers today held a rally at the Gandhi Bhawan, Punjab University, here this morning and later marched to the PU Vice-Chancellor’s office to lodge their protest against the Punjab government’s notification on the revised pay-scales. At the rally, held jointly by the Punjab University Teachers Association and the Punjab and Chandigarh College Teachers Union, office-bearers of the two bodies announced their decision to continue the agitation and boycott the exams if the matter was not resolved.

PU, Kyrgyz varsity sign MoU
The Punjab University and the Bishek Humanities University (BHU) of the Kyrgyz Republic have entered into a memorandum of understanding for the exchange of information, documents, cultural and educational programmes. In a meeting of PU Vice-Chancellor M. M. Puri and Rector of the BHU, BI Sadykovna, on February 23, the two sides have resolved to offer students from each other’s country, programmes in the fields of humanitarian sciences, computers, management, ecology, economics.

Seminar today
The Department of History, PU, is organising a seminar on `Revolutionary traditions in the Punjab’ tomorrow at the ICSSR Bhawan. The seminar aims at reconstructing the progressive trends over a broad historical period, from the emergence of Sikh doctrine in the medieval period to the recent phase of political violence in the contemporary Punjab. The inaugural session of the seminar which is being organised to mark the 300th Year of the Khalsa, will start at 10 a.m. tomorrow.
