Valsad, June 2: The Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB) has issued closure notices to three units of a big industrial house, which are located in Valsad district.
Valsad District Collector Pankaj Kumar told PTI here today that the notice was issued by GPCB chairman P Basu to the units under Environment Protection Act’s section three.
The three manufacturing units, causing pollution, have been asked to close down within 15 days from the reciept of the notice.
The GPCB has instructed the District Collector to snap power and water connections to the units if they fail to comply with the notice, issued for violation of pollution norms, Kumar added.
MOB VIOLENCE: Meanwhile in Ahmedabad, a violent mob went on the rampage, setting a car on fire and damaging shops in the Shahpur area of the city late tonight following a road accident.
According to police, the members of the mob were enraged over a freak road accident involving an autorickshaw and indulged in stone-throwing. Some of them then set fire to the car, which was parked in the locality.
