HYDERABAD, FEB 26: The D-day is ultimately set for March 24 - the day US President Bill Clinton will be in Hyderabad.Finalisation of the date of Clinton's visit to the city was communicated to the state government yesterday, upon which Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu held a high-level meeting with senior protocol and police officials, discussing all arrangements for the President's visit as well as the places he could visit. He will spend "one day" in Hyderabad, but it is not known whether he would prefer a night halt. Detailed programme of his activities during his visit to the city will be worked out by an "advance team" from US which is coming here on March 5.The team will stay in the city for couple of days discussing with government officials all aspects of Clinton's visit and going round places which could be included in the President's itinerary. On its part, the state government wants the President to pay a visit to the hi-tech city, which has emerged as a symbol of the IT revolution in the state, and at least one village in the adjoining Ranga Reddy where the DWACRA groups are active. The government is also planning to accord a civic reception to Clinton - either at the Gymkhana grounds or LB stadium - if the President's itinerary permits it.The US team, according to sources, is keen on Clinton visiting one or two projects funded by the United States, including the American Studies Research Centre (ASRC).The state government's role would be minimal in respect of accommodation and security for the President's visit. The inner security cordon will be taken care of by the US force as well as special teams from the Government of India. "At best, we will only be asked to provide the peripheral security," a senior official of the state government told The Indian Express.
