Unidentified body found
The dead body of an unidentified 40-year-old man was recovered besides a canal near Althaan village on the outskirts of the city on Wednesday afternoon by the Umra police. Though the Umra police do not rule out any foul play, they said that the body did not bear any injury marks. The body has been sent to the New Civil Hospital for scientific examination. A case under section 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure has been registered at the Umra police station and is being investigated.

Assaulted
One Santoshkumar alias Babloo Vijay Bahadur, a resident of Gandhinagar area of Khatodara, complained to the Salabatpura police that on Tuesday night when he was sitting along with his friends at the Shastrinagar bus stand of Katodara, four unidentified people attacked him with knives, causing him serious injuries. All the four accused then escaped from the scene. A case has been registered at the police station and is being investigated.

Breach of trust
The Salabatpura police have registered a case of criminal breach of trust and cheating against one Rakesh Ganpat Diwakar, a worker at a textile workshop, who instead of depositing a cheque of Rs 24,000 in a bank, withdrew the cash and is absconding. Rakeshbhai Kayasth, the owner of shop no 2062 at T T Tower Market of Ring Road, lodged a complaint on Wednesday stating that he had given the cheque to Rakesh on Tuesday to be deposited in the State Bank of Saurashtra. A case under IPC 406 has been registered at the Salabatpura police station and is being investigated.
