Students from Chennai have broken a 15-year-old record in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) examinations.
The overall success rate of 90 per cent in the region is the highest since 1990-91. The results of the CBSE examination were declared on Monday. Incidentally, the Chennai Region also registered the highest pass percentage in the country.
The Central Board of Secondary Education Chennai Region comprises of 1,216 schools spread across Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Goa, Pondicherry, Lakshadweep and Daman and Dieu. Of the 33,148 students who had registered for the examination, 32,365 candidates had appeared for the Plus Two public examinations at 530 centres.
While 91.23 percent of the 14,198 girls emerged successful, the boys trailed them with a 89.04 percent success rate from among 18,167 candidates.
