AHMEDABAD, JULY 26: It was interception of a coded wireless message by the Narcotics Control Bureau of the CBI which helped in the arrest of four men with 25 pistols, alongwith a large quantity of ammunition and drugs here early this week.

Decoding of the intercepted message revealed that a major consignment of narcotics was on its way to Ahmedabad. “We had concrete information that some ISI agents will escort the consignment which would be concealed inside a tyre,” a senior CBI official of the New Delhi team which made the seizure told The Indian Express.

However, local police are unhappy. “Why are they not revealing the place from where the consignment came and who despatched the arms and ammunitions. I believe the agency is keeping a lot of information secret to save someone,” a police officer said.CBI officers, however, say it is not mandatory for them to give out all details at this stage because this may expose their sources of information. The arrested men, who were remanded to CBI custody for seven days, are being taken for interrogation.Preliminary investigations revealed that the consignment came from Pakistan via the Rajasthan border and was meant for Mumbai.
