Breaking his silence, Haryana Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala today said that money collected for the ousted Prime Minister of Fiji Mahendra Chaudhry was lying in the Sector 19 branch of Oriental Bank of Commerce.

He further said that it was upto Chaudhry to decide how to utilise it. Chaudhry has recently told The Indian Express that he was yet to receive the promised money from OmPrakash Chautala.

Stating that anybody could check the account with the bank, he said that it would be upto Chaudhry to utilise the money whenever he liked and the manner he might deem fit.

Chautala after inaugurating a trauma centre at Karnal pointed out that an association named Indo-Fiji Friendship Society had been constituted to collect funds and the money was now deposited in the name of the Society with the said branch.

Chautala also denied charges of state Congress president Bhajan Lal on the issue, saying the allegations had been levied to tarnish the image of the state.

He said that the money was collected on the suggestion of Bhajan Lal’s predecessor Bhupinder Singh Hooda to help Chaudhry.
