A schoolteacher charged with molestation of a student committed suicide on Wednesday by consuming poison. Vipin Ambalal Patel 56, who taught at Vyaseshwar School in Barkal village, died in hospital.
The teacher had reportedly phoned the girl on December 6, asking her to come to Dabhoi to get details of the English question paper. He allegedly took her to an Ahmedabad lodge and made advances which she rejected, police said. The girl informed her parents and a complaint was lodged with the Shinor police, after which Patel was absconding.
