OCTOBER 30: The peacocks at the Delhi Golf Course went about their business as usual, inspite of the large number of golfers and members who came out to watch the golf. After the third day, Jyoti Randhawa could be seen shooing away a bird that insisted on walking around him as he took his stance to hit his final approach shot for the day.
After the penalties and disqualification of yesterday, the day ended on a pleasant note for most of the players and organisers. Jyoti emerged the sole leader after the penultimate round and has a chance to join the elite club of golfers who have defended their titles successfully. Jeev, who has been under a lot of stress though he shrugs it off mainly because of the incredible media focus on him, finally got his act together and carded a three under, 69, proving for the umpteenth time that golf is indeed an unpredictable game. What8217;s more he feels can he can make it to top 10 even at this stage. Talk of positive frame of mind.
Things looked up for many others, too.Among them were Tomoaki Ueda and Amritinder Singh, who after two over par rounds carded good four-under 68 each. Also shooting 68s were Arjun Atwal, Ashok Kumar and SSP Chowrasia.Amritinder could have even better for he was five under while teeing off on the 18th, normally a good birdie hole. But he bogeyed the last after hitting the right bushes on to finish four under for the day. He also three-putted on the seventh, so all in all it could even have be a brilliant seven under. Also screaming for attention is amateur golfer, Ashok Kumar, who was also among those who played four under today. With his six under par, he is now tied for second place with none other than Indian Open winner Arjun Atwal and South African, Sammy Daniels.
Confident, positive and talented, he has the nerve to win this event. On the par five, eighth, he hit two three iron shots into the left bunker, which is long for any golfer and then proceeded to sink his bunker shot for an eagle, three. However, in golf, there always has to besomeone who could have had a better day.
And today, Gaurav Ghei, was one such golfer. Celebrating his birthday, he could have wished for more than his two over par, 74 that followed yesterday8217;s 67.
