Virender Sehwag was unlucky to miss out on a well-deserved century but Gautam Gambhir’s concentration didn’t waver till he crossed the milestone on Monday. And the pace with which he got his second Test ton gave India more time to have a crack at the Aussies. “Missing out on a century in the first innings was not disappointing, but in the second innings I knew the century was there for the taking if I didn’t make mistakes,” Gambhir said with a smile. “It was worth waiting for this ton, simply because this has come against Australia and also helped India put Australia under pressure. I was longing for another Test century for a while,” he said.“I was under pressure because I wasn’t able to convert 60’s and 70’s into big scores. I was just thinking of scoring runs with a positive frame of mind which eventually worked for me. Having being around for a while in one-day and T20 cricket, I wanted to perform well in Test cricket and make an impression.”About the state of the match, he said: “Right from the last Test, we were very aggressive. The way our bowlers bowled in this match’s first innings was commendable. Now we can easily wrap up the match tomorrow.”Gambhir told reporters that Sourav Ganguly had some swelling on his elbow but the injury wasn’t serious. “He’s been rested, and with the form he is in, his presence will be crucial in Delhi.”
