
Unlike Delhi roads, the congestion among the various mobile operators8217; networks has reported a slight dip in June. The number of interconnection points facing jams declined to 457 from 499 in March this year. According to the telecom regulatory authority of India report on the points of interconnection PoI congestion for April to June, the performance of mobile operators has improved a little in June as compared to March.
The telecom regulator has set a benchmark that the number of calls facing congestion problems should be below 0.5 per cent of the total calls taking place between two networks. In other words, not more than 1 of 200 calls can have jams. Although the number of PoIs having jams has dipped from 499 in March to 457 in June, 218 PoIs have a congestion level of over 5 per cent. In March, 245 PoIs had this level of network jams.
