In a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee spokesman Jayantilal Parmar has sought a CBI inquiry into the Continuing Education Programme CEP under Union government8217;s Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, alleging serious financial and administrative irregularities.

In his letter, Parmar levelled 18 charges, ranging from diversion of funds to misuse of money. He also alleged that nearly 2,800 motivators prerak working under the CEP have not been paid honorarium for the last 18 months.

According to him, ever since the central grants flow stopped as per the provisions of the scheme, no salary was paid to motivators at various levels. Parmar also wanted to know where the money meant for motivator training went when there was no training at all. He also accused Ahmedabad Mahanagar Saksharta Samiti, a registered trust that implements CEP, of not providing bicycles to nodal motivators despite receiving grants amounting to Rs 17.25 lakh.
