The monitoring committee of the Cauvery River Authority today submitted to Prime Minister A.B. Vajpayee and the Supreme Court its report on the ‘ground reality’ and the prevailing water levels in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

The Water Resources Ministry said the committee’s report mentioned only the ground situation and the water levels in the two states.

Meanwhile, Karnataka CM S.M. Krishna today said there was no “deliberate disobedience” of the orders of the Supreme Court with regard to release of waters from Cauvery river and sought dropping further proceedings in the contempt petition filed by Tamil Nadu.

Seeking discharge of the notices issued to him and four others on the petition, the CM, in a 27-page affidavit filed before the SC today, said Karnataka had released 3.538 tmc of water between September 4 and 8 which was more than what was required.
