Director-General of Police Swaranjit Sen today hinted that cases will be registered against Telugu Desam chief N. Chandrababu Naidu and others for allegedly instigating people to resort to violence following the murder of Penukonda MLA Paritala Ravindra four days ago.
‘‘My reply lies in your question,’’ Sen told reporters when asked whether the department would book cases against the Telugu Desam chief. He said the police would investigate each and every case relating to the arson. ‘‘They have destroyed public property for no reason in a mindless and indiscriminate violence,’’ he said.
Sen said the government has issued a notification, transferring the probe to the CBI and the police would render all assistance to the CBI. He dismissed reports that the names of Panchayati Raj Minister J.C. Diwakar Reddy and that of a senior police officer were deleted in the FIR. ‘‘The investigating authorities have to decide whether the Minister and the IPS officer has to be questioned or not,’’ he said.
