Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh is likely to submit a list of probable Cabinet members to party president Sonia Gandhi on July 2. He has a difficult choice ahead, as he has to drop eight of his 25 Cabinet ministers. The prime criteria for selection of Cabinet members in Congress-ruled states will be a ‘‘good image’’, said Congress spokesperson Anand Sharma. ‘‘We shall be looking at the image and the capabilities of the ministers while retaining them after the downsizing.’’ Meanwhile, Singh and his deputy Rajinder Kaur Bhattal were busy lobbying with senior Congress leaders today. Over the next few days, Singh will meet senior Congress leaders Ambika Soni, Ahmed Patel and Mohsina Kidwai to discuss the downsizing of his Cabinet. Bhattal and Kidwai reportedly discussed the reshuffle during a half-hour meeting. ‘‘I am sure downsizing and reshuffle will not be used for political vendetta,’’ said Bhattal, after the meeting. ‘‘It is not for the CM alone to decide. Everything has been left to the party president, who will have the last word on it,’’ she said. Resignation call at PSUs
