The CPIM is known for grooming old JNU hands for party responsibilities. In keeping with the Prakash Karat-Sitaram Yechury tradition, it has been putting former Students8217; Federation of India office-bearers to good use in the party8212;one of them heads the research wing to assist the party brass on policy issues. Taking a cue or two, the BJP has been getting former ABVP members from JNU and DU for various party research and publication responsibilities. If Yechury8217;s IIM-Ahmedabad visit last year got the party an intern from the premier institute, the BJP, too, is getting feelers from IIM grads, with a couple of them also assisting the party over the weekends.
